What Are You Waiting For...Submit Already!

What Are You Waiting For...Submit Already!

by Nancy Sackheim

Friday has arrived.  Like clockwork Friday will turn into Saturday, then Sunday, and just like that another week has gone by with nothing submitted.

You have the material.  It's been written, rewritten, edited, and vetted.  But still you wait, overwhelmed, possibly even paralyzed by fear.

Let's put this in perspective. Trying to cross the interstate during rush hour is terrifying.  Pushing a button on Submittable?  The worst thing that can happen is...nothing.  You already experience that on a regular basis because you aren't submitting.

It's time to take a deep breath, pull up your big girl/boy pants and get with the program.  Here are a couple of links that should help with the process :

Caleb Stephens, Assistant Editor of Hinnom Magazine shares his own submitting journey "Lessons learned from a year-and-half of submitting short stories," on The Writing Cooperative

Susan DeFreitas guest post on Freewrite, "10 Writing Submission Strategies to Get You Published" is an excellent resource and should get you motivated and headed in the right direction.

Another Friday has arrived and like clockwork will end.  But not before you submit that short story, article, essay, whatever it is that you worked so very hard to create.
